The second part of the performance inspired by the research and practice of Isabella Tree. <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

The performance is translated into Polish Sign Language.<\/em><\/p>\n\n

“The world is burning, and I am directing performances. I can create a show on stage, but I am unable to respond to the greatest crisis we face today. The climate catastrophe and species extinction require the engagement of each and every one of us.”<\/em> (Micha\u0142 Zadara, \u201eDziczenie. Micha\u0142 Zadara \u2013 a director known for his remarkable adaptations of classical and contemporary literature, as well as for bold, experimental productions \u2013 has initiated a performance in which the main roles are played by non-human performers: plants, invertebrates, small mammals, sun, soil, water… The starting point for the artist’s conceptualization of this project was the practices and research of Isabella Tree \u2013 a writer and ecological activist promoting the development of wild biospheres on previously managed lands. This April, the director, along with researchers from the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Protection at the University of Lodz, designated an area of approximately 400 m2 in the Survivors’ Park, where humans will not interfere for the coming years.<\/p>\n\n

There will be two part of the project during the festival.<\/p>\n\n

The first part of the project \u201c400 m2 of hope\u201d will take place at sunrise (6:30 AM) \u2013 the audience will have the opportunity to observe and listen to the rewilding area. The soundscape of the morning performance will be co-created by composer and multi-instrumentalist Andrzej Smolik<\/a> and his band, along with the non-human entities.<\/p>\n\n

In turn, at 5 PM, Micha\u0142 Zadara will give a performative lecture (lecture with elements of theatre staging) on the ecological practices proposed by Isabella Tree. The dramaturgy of the lecture will also include descriptions of nature observations that will begin in June, research by naturalists and ecologists, and music by Andrzej Smolik. After the lecture, around 6 PM, you will be able to hear Smolik and his band live again.<\/p>\n\n
